#22 What is Embodied Inner Work, align with your true self, reframe limiting beliefs + release emotions

Tertia Riegler Episode 22

Embodied inner work is by far the most transformative practice I have ever come across.

By connecting with our bodies and accessing the wisdom within, we can break free from self-sabotaging patterns, align ourselves with our authentic truth, and cultivate a sense of empowerment that flows into every aspect of our lives.

Our bodies hold a wealth of information that encompasses our mental, emotional, physical, and energetic planes.

By tapping into this wellspring of knowledge, we gain deep insights into ourselves, our worldview, and the nature of our relationships.

In this episode, I share:

  • what is embodied inner work
  • the different levels of living
  •  how to unlock your authentic and magnetic life

Today we're going to dive into embodied inner work.  I guess the name Embodied Inner Work already explains what it is, and it really has to do with connecting with our internal world, our internal felt sense, our internal experiences through our body. The body holds all of the information that has to do with our mental plane, our emotional plane, our physical plane, and our energetic plane.
So all of the data that's available about ourselves, available about our worldview, available about our interpretation of life, available about our resonance, and our energetic signature, all of that can be accessed through the body. So our body is really the doorway into creating that deep connection with our truth. When we are able to live from this place where we are connected to our own truth, where we are connected to what is real and true for us, it really empowers us. It allows us to start making choices that honor us, that honor our relationships. It makes us feel that we have a say in our own lives. And when you live from a place where you have a say in your own life where you are empowered, it really filters through into all areas. It filters through into the way that you parent. It filters through into the way that you show up in your relationships, intimate relationships, and with your friends. Just the way that you go about your life is one of sovereignty, self-confidence, and coming from a place of deep self-trust. So many women that I speak to have self-sabotaging patterns. I know I have some of my own, and I feel that when we are really able to connect with our authentic selves and our truth, we can start to break these patterns. All of these things about ourselves that we feel hold us back. All of the things that get in the way of us living our best, most radiant and magnetic life. We can start unraveling those through connecting with our bodies, through getting access to all of the data that is available there. And so the inner work part of embodied inner work means that we really dive into what the body holds, the information that the body has to share with us, and we clear out the rubble, we clear out the rubbish and the debris and the nonsense that has gotten stuck there over the years. But not only that, we don't only clear out the rubble through our inner work, but we also excavate the diamonds and the gems and all of the precious pieces of us that we maybe didn't even know we had. So before I move on, I want to ask you a favor. If you enjoy what I've shared so far, if you found it helpful, please can you let me know by giving the video a thumbs up? So hit the like button and this way it tells me that you enjoyed it, you found it helpful, and it also helps this video in the algorithm.
Okay, I really appreciate that. So doing inner work is such an important part of our own personal growth, our own development, and it really allows us to bridge the gap between, if we do it from an embodied in a work perspective, it allows us to bridge the gap between our hearts and our bodies and our minds so that we can begin to bring these into alignment. And this is what leads us to wholeness. This is what leads us to feeling more fulfilled and to start living our lives in purpose and on purpose. Most of us live life in one of three ways. So I've created a model to illustrate this. I call it the three levels of living. Now, each level represents how an individual experiences their life and all of the situations and things that happen to them. And I'm gonna take you through this model so that you can understand the implications of living on any one of these three levels. So the first level is what I call autopilot mode. And on autopilot mode, people act and react without much conscious thought or much awareness. And their behaviors are heavily influenced by subconscious programming and conditioning. Now, our brains have a function of using energy very efficiently, and so our brains switch into autopilot mode. And you may even experience this when you go through your morning routine. So you get up in the mornings, you brush your teeth, you have your coffee, or you have your coffee, you brush your teeth, you get dressed, you go through your morning routine, and you don't give much thought to anything that you're doing. And perhaps you don't even remember how you went through the certain steps because you mind was occupied somewhere else. So our brain uses energy efficiently. It puts us into autopilot mode. The problem is when you live your life in autopilot mode all the time, this is really a space where we are in our victim mode. You're in a victim frame of reference. You're in a victim energy where life happens to you, you feel helpless, you feel that you don't have a say, and it really is a very disempowering space to be in. So that's level one. Level two is the level of conscious cognition. So this is typically the level where people have experienced some sort of an awakening. You are aware of your thoughts, your beliefs, and your patterns and how they cause you to show up on this level. Though you live primarily from the level of the mind analyzing and processing and interpreting and making sense of.  And even though you might have some skills and tools to reframe some of these limiting beliefs and to start changing your perspective and your narrative about yourself, your life and the world, you're still coming from the level of the mind, which means that the energy is mostly focused up here. And all of the data that I spoke about earlier that's available to us that you can access in your body, none of that is accessible to you. And so at this point, it's very important for me to say that it is still so important for us to have access to our minds. Our minds are so useful and powerful, and they move us forward and they help us do things. But you cannot truly live and experience your life through your mind. You live and experience your life through your body. That is what gives you the full somatic experience of what it means to be alive and what it means to experience pleasure and to feel joy and to feel expansive. And so the third level of living is the level of embodied wholeness. And this is where we are able to integrate our hearts, our bodies, and our minds. When we live in embodied wholeness, it really allows us to tap into our vitality, our feminine gifts of flow and creativity and receptivity and magnetism, and we access a deeper level of wisdom. And when you are skilled in level three living, you are also skilled to effortlessly switch between your action oriented masculine energy and your intuitive and receptive feminine energy. You can use them as the situation calls for it. So this is really what we intend to do then with embodied inner work, is to get to that place where we can access and call on both of these energies. And we live in a way where we are connected not only to the power centrum that lives in our mind, but also the huge great power rich power centrum that lives in our bodies. Now, what I wanna share with you is how you can get started on doing this embodied inner inner work. And I don't wanna give you a whole host of different practices. I want to really share with you that very first step of embarking on level three living. And the very first step is to begin to develop the ability to connect into your body so that you can start to become aware and work with and respond to and live from the information that the body holds. Alright? That information from our mental plane and our physical plane, our emotional plane, and our energy plane. So by learning the ability and the skill of tapping into what your body has to tell you, this not only drops you down from level two living where you come out of your mind, but it opens you up to a whole new way of being. A practice like this is really gonna support you to start tapping into your intuition so that you can, with all of the decisions that you make or any situation that you find yourself in, that you can very quickly tell whether this is for you, whether you are available for that, or whether you are not available for that. Just for a moment here reflect on what would be different in your life, how would your life change if you had access to your intuition to help guide your decisions, to help you set boundaries, to help you show up at work or in your family situations, or in a relationship in a way that is really aligned with who you are, where you can honor yourself, you can honor your own values, but you can also show up in a way that honors the values of those that you love and those that you spend time with.
